Kanakapura Road is a major arterial road linking South Bangalore to Ramanagara district steadily. It stretches nearly 50 to 55 km, running from Vishweshwarapura to Kanakapura town. Within city limits, the road covers a heavily used stretch of about 20 km.
It passes through JP Nagar, Yelachenahalli, Konanakunte, and Thalaghattapura along the way. The route continues through Vajarahalli, Kaggalipura, and Harohalli further down south. This road also carries the official designation of NH 948 today. It offers residents strong access to nearby IT hubs and business zones.
Kanakapura Road has a long and interesting history and started as a trade route that the Gangas and Cholas empires used. The British used this road to transport granite. Over the years, Bangalore has grown fast, and this has changed a lot. Now it is one of the growing areas in the city.
